Announcing "Empowering NQ Women for the Environment"

workshop flyerNorth Queensland Conservation Council and Queensland Conservation Council are happy to announce that we have received funding to run a special event for the 2017 Queensland Women’s Week.

When: Friday 10th – Sunday 12th March
Where:
Picnic Bay, Magnetic Island
Cost: Free to participants. We thank the Queensland Government and YWCA for funding and support to make this event possible.

This event is to facilitate the empowerment of North Queensland women for the environment. We will be facilitating a series of conversations reflecting and celebrating women’s role in the environment in North Queensland through storytelling. We will also be developing women’s networks, and providing workshops in building resilience, building confidence and building leadership.

At the end of the weekend, we want our participants leaving feeling like they are part of a long legacy of women leading the conservation movement in North Queensland, feeling supported, reinvigorated and with a few new skills to use in their community engagement and/or activism.

We have 40 places open for the event. We are looking for diversity across age, experience, skills and involvement. We are looking for women who have been involved for years, as well as emerging leaders looking to become more involved.
