NQCC is a voluntary regional conservation group whose area of interest extends along the Queensland coast from South of Bowen to North of Cardwell and Westward from this coastal strip to the Northern Territory border.
NQCC functions both as an umbrella group for other conservation related groups in this region and as an organisation representing a strong membership base. Its main concern is preservation of the environment across North Queensland, but it is also concerned with global environmental issues.
It promotes the conservation cause by lobbying government, responding to government requests for submissions on environmental impacts of proposed developments and most importantly by trying to directly raise public awareness.
We live in a wonderful region, there is much in this region that has not yet been destroyed by the one eyed focus on development at all costs - but equally much of the natural beauty and wonder of this region is under great threat. We exist to block these threats as best we can.
