What started as a chilly morning turned into a bright, beautiful day at Our Townsville, and we were so glad to be a part of it!

Our stall was buzzing from the start – with long lines for face painting and plenty of families stopping by to grab our Nature Scavenger Hunt cards. It was a joy to watch kids and adults alike getting curious about the natural world around them, whether it was spotting birds, leaves, or bugs.

The 60 Second Nature Benefits Challenge was a standout hit. In just a minute, visitors told us what nature means to them – from fresh air, clean water and space to play, to the quieter gifts like calm, connection, and peace of mind. These quick reflections showed how much Townsville residents value their local green spaces, not just for recreation, but for wellbeing and community too.

We also had some powerful, thoughtful conversations sparked by our vision board for a greener Townsville. People shared hopes for more trees, better public transport, cleaner waterways, and accessible parks. It’s clear that many in our community are passionate about protecting and improving our environment – whether it's for their kids, their pets, their health, or the planet.

This stall was a true team effort, brought to life by our Climate Action Group, who’ve been planning activities for months. From the first brainstorm to the final pack-up, our volunteers poured in time, care, and creativity. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.
