NQCC joined Amnesty International for the Palm Sunday Walk for Peace and Justice for Refugees on April 13. Over a hundred and fifty people came together, and we heard truly powerful messages — including personal stories from people who fled war, yet still dare to dream of freedom, safety, and finding their passion.

With just four weeks until the federal election, we know a lot of you will be busy campaigning, researching, sharing information and having important conversations with your friends and family.

Join the Climate & Energy Rally!
For months, we’ve been speaking with our community about the energy transition. One thing is clear—coal and gas are outdated, and the majority want real investment in a nature-positive transition to renewables.
There’s been plenty of curiosity about nuclear and future energy plans for Australia and Queensland. But let’s be clear: Nuclear is not the solution for North Queensland or Australia. It’s too costly—for both our environment and our household bills.
Additionally, this year’s devastating floods and heatwaves have been a stark reminder: North Queensland is already feeling the impacts. It is vital that we keep working on diverse solutions to make our communities more resilient.
That’s why it’s so important we come together to talk about what’s next.
Whether you fully support climate action and the transition to renewables or still have questions, this rally is for you! Come along for a peaceful gathering and hear from a great line-up of speakers covering a wide range of climate action topics.
Be part of the conversation about where we should be heading.
The future is renewable, not radioactive. The time for action is now. See you there!
