Have you heard of Climate Cafés?
There’s no guest speaker, no advice, and no call to action- just a quiet, welcoming space to share your thoughts and feelings about the climate crisis, in community with others. Whether you want to speak or simply listen, whatever you’re feeling is valid and welcome here.
The North Queensland Conservation Council invites you to join us for an outdoor Climate Café-an opportunity to come together and gently explore our emotional responses to the complexity of the world around us.
Why join?
As activists and community members, we often focus on outcomes and taking action. This space offers something different, but deeply supportive of that work. It’s a low-pressure environment to process the emotional weight of the climate and nature crisis.
Unlike traditional meetings, Climate Cafés prioritise being over doing. They create space for emotions such as grief, anxiety, hope, and even outrage-without the expectation to solve or act. Taking time to acknowledge and share these feelings can help build emotional resilience and strengthen our sense of connection with others.
This Climate Café will be hosted by Priscilla Peto and community campaigner Luna Prince, both trained facilitators with Psychology for a Safe Climate.
