Environmental Advocates of the Future

Meet some impressive young environmental advocates!

On a cool, sunny day in July, five courageous and thoughtful young people joined our Youth Advocacy Workshop - and their insights were astounding.

Aged 9 - 14, the environmental issues top of mind for this group ranged from the impacts to wildlife from plastics and light pollution, through to food waste, fast fashion, global warming and the wide-ranging impacts of AI data centres. While their knowledge and thoughtfulness impressed us immensely, we couldn't help feeling a little devastated at the depth and breadth of environmental issues they're already wrestling with.

Together, we explored WHY these issues mattered so deeply to them, learned about power mapping and practiced crafting powerful messages. We were surprised to learn how familiar many of them were with decision-makers at all levels of government!

We were inspired by their thoughtfulness and intelligence, and can't wait to see these young changemakers in action in future! We congratulate their parents/guardians for instilling strong values and encouraging them to follow their passions and find their voices.

WHAT NEXT?

On Wednesday 5th August, we'll be joining Parents for Climate and St Joseph's Mundingburra to host a screening of "Future Council" - an inspiring documentary about young people making change. We'd love you to join us!
