JCU O-Week - Semester 2

Wednesday 31 July, 12-3pm @ JCU Townsville Campus

Tessa Hodge volunteered at our O-Week Market stall in semester 1, 2019.

At the beginning of each semester, as part of their O-week celebrations, JCU holds a market day where students can familiarise themselves with their local community groups, businesses, not-for-profits and clubs and societies. We savour the opportunity to introduce ourselves to a wide range of students - many of whom are new to the region - and to let them know all about us and what we do.

Each semester we are approached by students from all disciplines who have a soft spot for the environment. Some of them just want to learn about who we are and our current campaigns, while others are looking for opportunities to volunteer or network within the conservation movement.Β

NQCC's Tarquin Moon presents our giant postcard to the pollies at State Parliament House in Brisbane.

On Wednesday 31st July 2019, we'll be presenting our current campaign to #SaveOurNationalParks and encouraging students to help us to spread awareness about this issue on social media. We will have with us our giant postcard (pictured above) as well as actual-sized ones to pose in a photo with, to help spread the important message that our National Parks are not for sale!Β

We will also be selling our notorious quirky badges for $3 each or two for $5, so bring along some loose change!Β

Whether you're new to JCU, a seasoned student or a member of the university's staff or community, come along and say hi - we'd love to meet you!
