Throughout April, our community came together for Love Where You Live — a grassroots fundraiser celebrating practical action, care for place, and the people helping protect North Queensland’s environment.

What started as a collection of individual fundraising efforts quickly became something much bigger: a shared reminder that small actions, when backed by community, really do add up.

Together, we celebrate:

- 15 community fundraisers
- 100 donations
- More than $5,600 raised

Across the month, participants found creative and meaningful ways to take action. Some spent time removing weeds and caring for local bushland, others picked up rubbish where it didn’t belong, and some used the opportunity to build new skills through wildlife and environmental training.

We also heard from participants how much they enjoyed the small action ideas shared throughout the campaign - from local volunteer opportunities to simple ways of engaging more deeply with nature, wildlife, and community life. It was encouraging to see how these small prompts inspired people to try something new or reconnect with places and people around them.

Most importantly, every fundraiser was backed by friends, family, neighbours, and supporters who chose to sponsor and encourage these efforts.

We want to recognize one of our standout community champions, Bernadette, who together with her friends raised an incredible $1,005! Bernadette has long been a generous and welcoming presence in the community, always willing to share knowledge and encourage others to get involved.
