Mayoral Candidates Forum 2025

North Queenslanders are already experiencing extreme heat, coastal flooding, and other climate-related risks that affect our safety, our homes, and our shared natural environment. While our community shows remarkable resilience and ingenuity, these pressures are mounting, affecting vulnerable residents and local ecosystems alike.

The recent Open Letter from Townsville Community Organisations addressing Climate Risk calls for strong leadership to ensure Townsville remains liveable and resilient in a changing climate. From energy insecurity to the wellbeing of our wildlife, these challenges require practical action, inclusive planning, and committed local leadership to safeguard our community and environment for the future.

We want to learn about the approaches our Mayoral Candidates will support to address community concerns and position Townsville as a leader in climate action and liveability in the tropics.

Join us on Thursday 6 November 2025 at the Community Information Centre to hear from Townsville City Council's Mayoral Candidates. Doors open at 5.30pm for mingling and light refreshments before the forum kicks off at 6.15pm.

This will be a Q&A style forum, with questions collated prior to the event. If you have a question for the candidates, please post it in the comments section below the RSVP button, or email to [email protected]

You can view the questions posed to the candidates by NQCC here.

We’ve heard a lot about what you plan to do for the city if elected, but what’s something you’ve already done – either as a community member, or in local government – that has made Townsville stronger, more livable or more resilient?
