In April 2023, NQCC made a submission to the Public Environment Report for Gawara Baya (previously known as the Upper Burdekin Wind Farm). 

Our assessment of the PER is that it does not provide adequate assurances that impacts to species and habitat can be adequately avoided or offset to provide net-positive biodiversity outcomes.

Of particular concern are the impacts of habitat for the koala, red goshawk and Sharman's rock wallaby. We would like to acknowledge the support we received from CAFNEC in providing our response and recommendations.
