The 90s

Here are four more stories from the NQCC 50 anniversary Project from Jim Tait, Lyn Wallace and Alan Webb.

Jim Tait followed Peter McAdam as NQCC Coordinator and took over the role in 1989 when the election of the Goss Government brought the Bjelke-Petersen era to a final close. In his first story Jim tells us how he became NQCC Coordinator and describes the change in the Environment scene in Queensland with the new government.

Jim’s second story is about the celebration of Earth Day in 1990.

Lyn Wallace came to Townsville in the early 90s after serving a number of years as the Coordinator of the Cairns and Far North Environment Centre (CAFNEC). Lyn describes her role as Project Officer with NQCC  working on the Management Plan for the South Bank of the Ross River in the early 1990s.

The fourth story in this bracket is from Alan Webb about the poetry competitions that were sponsored by NQCC and organised by Alan in the 1990s. The award ceremony turned out to be one of NQCC's most memorable nights.
