Do you ever feel like life has become increasingly complicated - with the climate crisis, wars and conflicts, and the pressures of social media? Do you sometimes feel caught in a system that makes it hard to live in line with your values - how we treat our planet, each other, and ourselves?
The global sustainability crisis requires more than better policies or consumer choices. It calls on us to pause. To reflect on the values we live by, the connections that truly matter, and what brings us lasting happiness. It asks us to care not only for our planet, but also for our own mental health and wellbeing.
If you feel deeply about what is happening in our world - whether that stirs frustration, anger, sadness, or simply a longing for a more mindful and sustainable way of being - this event is for you.
Join us for The Way Out, a free community film screening and mindfulness evening made possible through the Queensland Mental Health Week Community Grant. Together, we’ll be looking inward - exploring how mindfulness can strengthen our wellbeing, nurture happiness, and inspire collective action for a more sustainable future.
What’s happening:
Film Screening: The Way Out (Evermind Media, directed by Wouter Verhoeven, 2019) follows a burnt-out businessman and a frustrated climate activist, who escape their everyday life to find themselves, discovering that global change starts from within. Based on the teachings of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, the film explores the idea that “The way out of the climate crisis is inside each of us.”
Body-Centering & Meditation Practices: Guided by Juanita D’Aguiar (Dynamic Synergy Yoga & Counselling), discover ways to center your body and mind.
Discussion on Mindfulness & Climate Action: Bridget Ferguson (Communications Coordinator Psychology for a Safe Climate) and Luna Prince (Community Campaigner NQCC) will explore how mindfulness supports emotional resilience and careful activism.
Interactive Conversations: Share your thoughts, feelings, and ideas about the climate crisis in a supportive community space.

We are happy to offer this event for free. Please RSVP as space is limited.
