Cardwell Community Members Help Spread the Message

At Cardwell's recent Easter Market, NQCC's campaign to #SaveOurNationalParks was shared with the community, gaining 40 new signatures on our petition and starting many meaningful conversations with Cardwell locals about the issue. We would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to Carolyn and John Mewing for their dedication to this, to their volunteers Ken and Vito, and to Thea, Jenny and Jan who helped make it possible. Visit our website to learn more about this campaign that is so close to our hearts.

Member Event

If you are currently a paid up member of NQCC, you should have received an invitation to our Member Event, scheduled for Wednesday 1 May. If you are not currently a member, feel free to join us, and perhaps we can convince you to sign up for 2019-20! You are also welcome to join or renew your membership online before the event here. New memberships expire on 5 June 2020 (World Environment Day).

Townsville Clean Energy Rally

With the support of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC), some passionate high school students will be leading a Clean Energy Rally, where they will call for a safe, sustainable and renewable future and intergenerational justice.

You are invited to join these young leaders on Wednesday 8 May at 1.30pm at the Reid Park Complex (to be confirmed). Click here for more information and to RSVP.

Federal Election Candidates' Environment Forum

Would you like to meet some local Townsville candidates before the Federal Election (Saturday 18 May) and hear their plans for environmental policies? Come along to our Candidates' Forum to have all of your questions answered! The date and venue are to be announced, so keep a weather eye on your inbox and NQCC's Facebook page.

From outside of Townsville? Find your local candidates here to contact them with your burning questions.

Green Drinks

The next Green Drinks is scheduled for Friday 10 May, from 5.30pm (venue TBC).

To keep updated each month, join the Green Drinks Townsville Facebook group or sign up to the Green Drinks mailing list.

Postcard Art Exhibition - Thank you!

We'd like to extend our gratitude to everyone who donated their artistic talents, as well as those who helped us to spread the word throughout your networks! We have received a wide array of pieces which have come to us from all over Australia, as well as from the USA and Japan! Our Exhibition opens on Friday 17 May, so keep a weather eye out for details!

Ecofiesta - Presenters Wanted!

Do you have an exciting environmental initiative or group that you'd like to share at Townsville's Ecofiesta this year? Reply to this email and let us know!

Free Legal Advice

Have you heard of the Environmental Defenders Office of North Queensland? They are an independent, non-profit community legal centre that provides free public interest environmental legal services to the communities of North Queensland. They are an asset to our region and have achieved some very positive environmental outcomes. If you or anyone you know requires environmental legal services, visit https://edonq.org.au/.

NQCC Memberships Due Soon!

Our annual memberships expire on World Environment Day (5 June) each year, which is coming up soon! Why not beat the last minute rush and renew now? Whether you are an existing member or you're considering signing up (or rejoining us after a lapse), this is a great time of year to get onto it!

I'll Do That Right Now And Then Get On With My Day
